Who We Are
Welcome to Langlade Area Mountain Bike & Hiking Association!

Langlade Area Mountain Bike & Hiking Association (LAMBA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to building and maintaining sustainable, high-quality trail systems. We foster a welcoming mountain biking and hiking community that embraces adventure, respects nature, and inspires people of all ages and abilities to explore, improve, and connect with the outdoors.

Our goal is to create premium trail experiences that encourage healthy, active lifestyles through mountain biking and hiking. Through trail stewardship, community engagement, and outdoor recreation, we strive to ensure these trails remain accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable for generations to come.

LAMBA’s all-volunteer team maintains more than 30 miles of trails throughout the greater Langlade area, contributing over 5,000 hours annually. We responsibly build new trails, maintain existing ones, and host events for both new and experienced riders and hikers. Our efforts are supported entirely by members and donors.

We work closely with the U.S. Forest Service and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to ensure all trail maintenance and development align with environmental and recreational guidelines. These partnerships help protect the region’s natural beauty while delivering exceptional trail experiences for all users.

LAMBA Organizational Structure

The Langlade Area Mountain Bike & Hiking Association (LAMBA) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization (Federal Tax Identification Number 26-3026111). LAMBA is responsible for the development and management of the Nicolet Roche Mountain Bike Trail System, which includes more than 12 miles of mountain bike trails, 8 miles of hiking trails, and numerous miles of gravel routes. These trails are located in and around the scenic Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources land along the Wolf River, and across unimproved gravel roads in eastern Langlade and northern Oconto counties. Together, these areas provide thousands of acres for mountain biking, gravel riding, and hiking, with trailheads based in the towns of Langlade, White Lake, Doty, and Townsend.

LAMBA takes its role as an environmental steward seriously and is committed to sustainable trail development. All trails are designed and built to withstand years of regular use without degradation or erosion and are constructed in accordance with International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) best practices.
